Cyn is a self-made executive who worked her way up through the ranks from team lead to Vice President at Linden Lab, the company started by Philip Rosedale to bring 3D interaction to the web via the online community Second Life. Rosedale’s vision extended beyond the Second Life platform and into the Lab’s workforce; he was a proponent of reinventing the workplace, and encouraged the creation of programs that pushed the boundaries of traditional employee roles. Cyn embraced this philosophy, and along with her regular duties participated in ground breaking employee programs that empowered and engaged across teams. She also developed expertise in working with remote teams, autonomous groups of developers and service providers, and culturally diverse populations. Early on in her tenure as a newly minted VP she had the opportunity to work with Winning Mind and was profoundly influenced by the experience. The principles of high performance she was exposed to has helped shape a philosophy teams and organizations need to invest in culture, alignment and thoughtful development of organizational identity to grow, and to become or remain successful. She went on to become the Chief Talent and Culture Officer at Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit technology organization that runs the 5th largest website, Wikipedia. In addition to her work at Wikimedia, Cyn works with teams and individuals in the technology community, providing insight and support for change management and professional development.
